Preserving Duncan’s Historic Heritage & Community Parks Since 2003
“The 1905 Victorian cottage on Main Street, opposite the Post Office, was built in 1905 by Benjamin Franklin Billingsley, proprietor of the Duncan Mercantile. B.F. Billingsley’s grandson Charles Billingsley has donated the property to the Duncan Pride Society so that we can restore it and make it available as a site for wedding receptions, family reunions, concerts, lectures and other functions. Volunteers are prepping the house for a roof replacement, to be followed by a renovation. We are seeking donations of cash, materials and labor!”
Welcome to the official community portal of the Duncan Pride Society (federally registered with the Internal Revenue Service as Pride Society, EIN 04-3675065). Recognized as a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) public charity since January 2003, our society brings together neighbors, ranching and farming families, local businesses, and heritage volunteers across Duncan and the Upper Gila River Valley in Greenlee County, Arizona.
Flagship Restoration: The 1905 Benjamin F. Billingsley House (202 Main Street)
Standing at the northwest corner of Main and Church Streets directly opposite the United States Post Office, the 1905 Victorian cottage is the only residential property in Duncan listed on the National Register of Historic Places (Reference #83002998, listed August 25, 1983). Following the generous property donation by Charles Billingsley, grandson of builder and Duncan Mercantile proprietor Benjamin Franklin Billingsley, Duncan Pride Society mobilized community donations and grants to replace the aging roof and restore the steep cross-gabled exterior.

Town Parks Stewardship & Historic Duncan Milestones
In addition to restoring the 1905 Billingsley House, Part III of our annual IRS Form 990-EZ filings records our ongoing accomplishment: “Preserved various town parks and historic buildings.” Through direct cooperation with the Town of Duncan (TOD), our volunteers support Packer Park, Main Street historic signage, and civic gathering spaces.
1905–1983 · Historic Foundations
1905: B.F. Billingsley constructs the Victorian cottage at 202 Main St.
1938: Town of Duncan incorporates in Greenlee County.
1983-08-25: Billingsley House listed on the National Register (#83002998).
2003–2026 · Duncan Pride Society Era
2003-01: IRS grants 501(c)(3) status to Pride Society (EIN 04-3675065).
2018-07: Peggy Toy & Dianne Vandell publish Billingsley roof appeal on DVEC-hosted site.
